Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations agent

The Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations agent is a source-only agent that enables you to load data to Financial Planning & Analysis.

Add a connection

To add a connection for a Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations agent:

  1. In the navigation panel, select Setup.
  2. Select a text agent or peer connection, and click > Add Connection.

     Note:  All the parameters listed below are required; none have character restrictions.

  3. Connection Name must be unique. Up to 40 characters.
  4. Client ID: No character limit.
  5. Client Secret: No character limit.
  6. Resource: No character limit.

  7. Tenant: No character limit.
  8. Click Verify Credentials.

  9. Click Save.

Add a query

  1. Select a Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations connection or peer query, and click > Add Query.
  2. Query name must be unique. Up to 40 characters of any type.
  3. Select the Object that you want to query:
    • DimensionCombinations
    • FiscalCalendars
    • GeneralLedgerActivities (default)
    • Ledgers
    • MainAccounts
    • Custom
  4. Custom name: Appears if Object is set to Custom. Type the name of the object that you want to execute. (No character restrictions or limits.)
  5. Fields: Accept the default, or click to choose the fields you want from Fields Selector.

  6. Beside Query click and in Filter Condition build your query:

  7. If the query has parameters, add them to the Filters table:
    • Name: The parameter name. Up to 50 characters.

    • Type: The parameter's data type (text or numeric). (For date values choose text.)
    • Default value: What the user sees in the Data Integration process and can edit. Up to 50 characters.
    • Sample value: What the user sees when hovering over the cell in the Data Integration process. Use it to show the expected input/format. Up to 50 characters.
    • Hide: Turn on if you want to keep users of the Data Integration process from seeing the parameter, while using its Default value in the query.
     Note:

    If Object is set to GeneralLedgerActivities, the Filters table contains the following filters: Fiscal Year, Period, and Entity Name:

    • These filters cannot be deleted, and their names and types cannot be changed.
    • Later when you define Tasks, you can leave any of these filters empty.
    • Adding other filters is not allowed.
    • Example:

  8. Click Save.

Create a task

  1. In the navigation panel, select Job Definitions.
  2. In the Job Definitions panel, select an existing job or create one.
  3. Under Logging, to add extra debugging details to the Job Log, turn on Verbose logging.
  4. Click > Add Step; name the step.
  5. Click > Add Task.
  6. Task name: Up to 250 characters
  7. Under Source, from Connection select the Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations connection that you want to use.
  8. From Query select the specific source query that you want to run.
  9. The Filters table lists parameters that you can use to filter the query. Accept the default values or provide your own.

     Tip:  Hovering over a Value cell reveals its expected input/format.

  10. Under Destination, from Connection select the connection you want to use.
  11. The remaining options depend on the connection type; complete them and click Save.
